Neuropsychological Evaluations

Neuropsychological evaluations are targeted to your individual needs and goals. These type of specialized assessments can provide you with a better understanding of brain-behavior relationships. Usually, they help determine specific changes in your thinking associated with a specific diagnosis (e.g., dementia, intellectual disability, traumatic brain injury, stroke, etc.). They can also assist with diagnostic clarification and guide your treatment planning.
Your treating provider (such as a neurologist or primary care doctor) may refer you to help understand your cognitive (thinking) abilities, provide diagnostic clarification, obtain a baseline of your cognitive functioning, determine eligibility for certain services, determine the level of support you need, and more. Usually, these type of assessments are completed after you or your loved ones start to notice a change in your memory, problem solving skills, speed of thinking, attention, multitasking, etcetera. The length of the appointment varies depending on a variety of factors, including your age, stamina, level of complexity, and more! To inquire about your specific case, you can schedule a brief consultation with Dr. Perez.
